Spurs v Mavs G4

Game 4.

Well normally-and by that I mean before 2006- I would say that going down 3-1 is equal to losing the series. However, after having gone down 3-1 to these very same Mavericks three years ago I don't feel the same way. After getting blown out three times in a series and still winning (last yr v Hornets) and twice in a series ('05 v Pistons) I am not fazed by getting our asses handed to us by anyone. It happens. It is professional basketball. All of these guys are really good. Usually the difference is in desire. Desire to play defense, desire to attack, desire to give a shit.

That usually is the difference. That, and cohesiveness.

So, fuck game 3.

Its gone.

I won't be surprised at anything in this game. Mavs blowout? Sure. Spurs win by 30? Sure. Close one? Yepsiree.

The Spurs' job last game was to overcome the inevitable first-home-playoff game surge and hold on. They didn't. They let it swamp them and could not hit shit to boot.

This game will have something similar. The Spurs, fresh off their pride-killing spanking will come out with a little more energy. The Mavericks, imbued with new confidence and a feeling of perceived invincibility, may not care.

I think that is the biggest problem for SA. The bench cannot match up with Dallas'. So, we need them to not try hard. Really that is the only option. TP and TD can do whatever, but if the second unit doesn't hold its own (by playing extraordinarily well) I don't think it will matter.
