More on Mavs v Nuggets g3

So what can we learn from this sequence of events? Well, that Anthony Wright committed a 1st quarter-type foul on Anthony in a second round playoff series. Whatever the league says about missed calls is just to appease the media. The fact is that the refs let the players decide the game in the final seconds. Ask Brent Barry. Wright should have wrapped him up. This is the NBA, not high school.

In that situation, Wright shouldn't have let him make a move towards the basket or three point line. The foul should have been committed as soon as he recovered the ball near the sideline and should have been a wrap-up, hold his arms-type foul. Hell, he could have made a swipe at the ball while he was at it. Anyone remember when Nash was assaulted on the sidelines in the Lakers-Suns game a couple of years ago? No call there. Whatever the choice by Wright, he would have been better served just being aggressive.

Lame ass, half-body bumps in the last ten seconds of a game against a star player is not going to cut it.

Anyway, like I mentioned last post, Dirk and co. missed like five or six jumpers that could have sealed the game away. That is the danger of having a glorified jump-shooter as your go-to player. Dirk put no pressure on the defense on those last possesions. I know his fall away jumper is hard to guard, but if he misses? At least get someone in there to rebound!

I think a better move would be to have Kidd and Dirk in a pick and roll situation with Terry spotting up. Kidd will take it to the basket, and he can always kick it to Terry or Dirk for an easy spot up J. Those shots go in a lot better than a fall away jumper. I know they know this because they when Dirk was attacking the basket he found Terry in the corner w/ 30 seconds left. See?

So yeah. It would suck being a Maverick fan. But then again, no one really is a Maverick fan. Everyone in Dallas is a Cowboy fan but they root for the Mavs, Rangers, Stars and whoever else in the offseason.

It is what it is.

UPDATE:

Doc Rivers agrees with me.

Told ya I am awesome.

That's an easy criticism coming from a fan of a one horse town.

    ¿Dónde están las Spurs?

  2. its more like an observation, buddy. People here like the Cowboys more than the Mavs.

It is neither good nor bad, just is.

What I am saying in that quote is that I feel sorry for the diehard Mavs fan. But since there isn't one, its okay. There is no one to feel sorry for.

'Cept maybe Cuban. But he is a d-bag and he has billions to comfort him, so he doesn't need my sympathy.
