Was reading
here where some fans second guessing. Hey, its perfectly fine. We hired Dodge to coach winning football, and so far we have losing football. Like I have
said before, you can't pin it all on Dodge's coaching. It is partly Dickey's fault we are still in this mess. If the dude had recruited some decent dudes, we wouldn't have to rely on freshman, sophomores, and Juco transfers. It is what it is. And what is it? We do not have elite talent. We lost to sorry teams. We are probably the worst team in FBS football. Dude is trying to change that. It is hard. Especially when you are not at a powerhouse, money-laden, university, or in a powerhouse, money-laden conference. All those things that other coaches use when they 'turn around' bad programs? We don't have any of those things. We have a high school stadium, decent facilities in a poor man's Austin. If you are a second or third tier player, why would you come here? So you can lose 10 games? Get beat by 40? 50?
Coach Dodge has two cards. One: playing time. "If you come, and you are decent, you probably are now our starter." Two: hope. "You could be the guy that turns this thing around!" That's it. He used to have a third: Spread Offense. Now every team runs that thing. We aren't special. Every team in our conference runs it.
So there ya go. Lay off the dude for another 2 years at least. Let his recruits mature. Let him get a defense in here. Then you judge.
