More Immediate Reaction to Mavs-Spurs Game 2

Sir Chuck has a point: The Mavericks can't play the Spurs' tempo and expect to win. He had a point on Sunday night also, however. He said the Spurs have to play really well and have everything click for them because the Mavericks are deeper.

He is right. On both statements.

Tonight the Mavericks played like the Spurs did on Sunday. They missed some easy ones and turned the ball over.

Stats that jump out:

1. We out rebounded them 51-42 with Duncan cleaning up with 17. All those second-chance points Dallas had in game 1 weren't there because SA did a much better job of cleaning up the mess.

2. Richard Jefferson made an appearance. From four points to nineteen points. Remember all the talk about how SA needed production outside of the big three? There you go. Duncan-Gino-Parker had 64 this game and Timmah was especially awesome in crunch time.

Last game the Spurs got within five in the fourth quarter but Dallas ended it with some big shots by Dirk, Marion, Terry, and Kidd while the Tony Parker missed two huge layups.

This game, it was the complete opposite. Dirk and co were the ones frustrated by the lid on the basket and Timmy showed flashes of his former MVP self, scoring four straight buckets to ice the deal.

Looking ahead to game three we can predict these things:

1. Over-reaction by Dallas fans/media
2. Some overconfidence by SA fans
3. Dirk will probably have 25-30 points and shoot a better percentage.
4. The Due bad game by either Timmy, Gino, or Tony. One of them always puts up a horrible game. More and more it has been Tim as he gets older. Can they overcome that? Well, that is the big-money question.
