Tracy McGrady doesn't attack the basket in the clutch. That pretty much is it in a nutshell. With the lead and 37 seconds to play, T-Mac had the ball and got a screen from Scola on the top of the key. He drives right, pulls up at the first defender, and fires a brick. Horrible. Dude can get to the basket. He has posterized many a defender, but T-Mac doesn't attack the basket in crunch time.
He has a height advantage on most defenders at 6-8. He has long arms, explosiveness, hops, handles, and touch. Maybe dude is tired. Taking a 19 footer is the easy way out. It takes the pressure off the defender. It is not a terrible shot but a 6 footer is a great shot.
Get to the rim T-Mac.
