Do I agree with it? Hell yeah. A company asking for money only to spend it wastefully? Bullshit. I could understand if it was a loan from a private business or something. Not when you are subsidized by the people. Fuck that shit. I think we should have let them tank. Yeah it woulda sucked for a few years but we woulda been better coming out the otherside.
There's a ton I would like to say about this statement, but I'll reserve it for a few rather important things.
ReplyDeleteFirst of all I agree the government should have let the banks go under, we would be doing what is necessary to recover if the government didn't throw money at sinking boats.
There is a big problem in this thinking. That of our liberties. Every man should be able to contract with anyone willing in order to make a profit. And, although the government did wrong by confiscating our money and giving it to banks, it is even worse to cap those CEO's paychecks. If we feel in emergency situations it is ok to do that to CEO's in even bigger emergency situations the government will do it to the rest of us. Don't believe me?

in the early 70's they did the same.
We shouldn't think it's "OK" to tamper with our rights, once in a while.
Second, it is ridiculous to be concerned over a few million dollars when we're talking billions. If people don't understand why these people rightfully are paid lots of money to do their job, they should stay out of their affairs.
It may cost a lot of money to get someone to get them out of the door, but it's better then staying with them or dealing with all the internal struggles and courts etc.
I'll stop for now but please at least read this article to get a small grasp of how "penny wise and pound foolish" it is to cap CEO's pay.

well, i agree that we should inform ourselves and self-regulate. However, we are talking about government employees practically. That is my problem. If they submit to accepting our money, they are subject to our rules. They failed. We should let them.
